Respect NM Women in 2016

Since our launch in January of this year, we’ve been hard at work standing up for reproductive rights and abortion access in New Mexico and making sure all New Mexican families have the resources they need to make the most informed decisions about their bodies and their lives.

See what we've been up to this year!
Respect 140

In April, We hosted Respect140--an evening of stories, performance, and poetry about reproductive health, rights, and justice in New Mexico. The twist is that each presenter only had 140 seconds to speak. We heard amazing ideas and stories from people in our community who have the expertise that only personal experience brings - people who have had abortions; advocates who fight for reproductive health every day in spite of fierce opposition; and community members who support all New Mexicans in their ability to make their own decisions about their lives. These incredible presentations went far beyond the polarizing battles of “pro-choice” versus “pro-life,” instead reaffirming support for individuals to be able to make their own informed decisions about their bodies and lives and access to reproductive health care that the want and need. Watch Respect 140 speakers here.

Abortion provider appreciation

In March, we sent postcards to people across New Mexico to show support for our dedicated medical providers and staff who ensure that people seeking abortion care in New Mexico have access to care. We received hundreds of postcards from people all over the state standing with NM abortion providers. Check out our Tumblr page to see the rest.

Medical Provider Letter of Support

In February, we published a full page letter of support in NM’s three largest newspapers signed by almost 60 medical providers respecting a person's ability to make their own personal decisions about abortion. Read the full letter here. If you are a medical provider and would like to sign this letter, please click here.
